Pune News: Online ticketing becomes a nightmare in PMPML buses
PUNE / PIMPRI: NpNews24 Online – Pune News | Buses of PMPML frequently break down on roads. Now, the problem of the server being down is creating problems for e-ticketing. The online system was started in PMPML less than one month ago but drivers are telling passengers to travel if they have cash. This is also affecting its business. (Pune News)
PMPML started the online ticket system for providing digital tickets. The purpose behind starting the system was to bring about transparency and reduce arguments over loose change. However, due to faulty machines, the transport utility is also suffering. On Tuesday, passengers travelling by PMC to Chinchwadgaon had a taste of this experience. The bus was overcrowded. When passengers gave money to the conductor, the machine became out of range. Hence, online tickets could not be issued.
Passengers were demanding tickets from the conductor.
The conductor was trying to take a print of an online ticket but no ticket was being printed. The conductor was telling people that they should not board the bus at the bus stop because the machine had developed a fault. Later, the passengers were issued manual tickets but many passengers got down from the bus without taking tickets.
Incidents of machines developing a fault, machines getting discharged, illegible print, incomplete tickets and late printing of tickets have increased. PMPML is facing financial problems. Many conductors are upset with machines developing problems. Sometimes, arguments are taking place between passengers and conductors.
Bhaskar Dahatonde, Manager of Pimpri depot, said, “The range is not available in some areas in Chikhali and Chinchwad and this creates problems while printing tickets. The PMPML administration is trying to find a solution for this problem.”
