Pune News | Now, pay fines ranging from ₹5,000 to ₹25,000 for abandoning vehicles on roads

PUNE : Pune News | Now, abandoning non-functional vehicles is now going to cost more. The abandoned vehicles create problems for traffic and cleanliness and these vehicles are now going to be seized and disposed of. So far, 22 vehicles have been seized and owners of 18 vehicles have been issued notices. The vehicles have been parked on roads, footpaths, parking areas of PMC and open spaces.

At many places, vehicles have been parked on main roads leading to obstruction of traffic. Hence, the action has been started, says Deputy Commissioner of Anti-encroachment Department Madhav Jagtap. During the earlier drive, 1,200 vehicles had been seized and the civic body had earned a revenue of ₹1.5 crore by auctioning the vehicles.

Notices will be stuck on vehicles found abandoned on roads and the owners will have to take away their vehicles in seven days. If they are not taken away, the PMC will seize them and their owners will have to take them back within 30 days.

A fine of ₹5,000 has been proposed for two-wheelers, ₹10,000 for autos and tempos, ₹15,000 for cars, ₹20,000 for vehicles weighing up to 10 tonnes and ₹25,000 for heavy vehicles like buses and trucks.
