Pune News | Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana launched for OBCs

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune News | The state government has started Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana to provide houses to the poor. Under this scheme, members of OBC community staying in rural areas, will be provided with houses. The scheme would be launched from Pune district.

The Director of District Rural Development Shalini Kadu gave this information in a press conference. Various schemes like Ramai Awas Yojana for SCs and STs, Shabari Awas Yojana, Adim Awas Yojana and for nomadic tribes, Yashwantrao Chavan Mukt Vasahat Yojana are available.

However, for OBCs, no such scheme was available. Hence, families of this category were deprived of this scheme despite being eligible. Against this background, during this year’s budget, Deputy CM Devendra Fadnavis announced the starting of Modi Awas Gharkul Yojana to build 10 lakh houses in three years. A proposal was passed by the cabinet. Later, the Department of Other Backward Bahujan Welfare has recently issued a GR.

Shalini Kadu, Director of District Rural Development, said, “Families who were not eligible to benefit from PM Awas Yojana, can take advantage of this scheme. Their dream of owning a house will be fulfilled through this scheme. The annual income of the family in OBC category should not be more than ₹1.20 lakh. They should not own a house in the state and they should not have taken a housing loan. Another condition is that the beneficiary should not be in the permanent waiting list of PM Awas Yojana for rural areas.”
