Pune News | Heavy rains lead to landslides in Pokhri Ghat

BHIMASHANKAR: Pune News | Since it has been raining heavily in adivasi areas since four days, landslides have taken place in the Pokhri Ghat which leads to the famous Bhimashankar temple. There were landslides in two areas from Kushire to Falode area.

The possibility of a large landslide on the main road leading to blockage of the road, cannot be ruled out. In Pokhri Ghat, there was a landslide in the same area last year. This year, the landslide has happened at the same spot and there is a lot of mud and stones on the road. A portion of the land near Kushire Budruk is sinking and the road may be closed.

The rivers, nalas and other water streams are overflowing due to heavy rains since four days. This can lead to sinking of land.

Hence, devotees should take care while travelling through the ghat, API Kiran Bhalekar of Ghodegaon police said in an appeal. Tourists and devotees and locals going to Bhimashankar should be careful while travelling in Pokhri Ghat and while entering Falode-Kushire area. Due to heavy rain, the possibility of an accident cannot be ruled out due to falling of boulders from the hill. Hence, the district administration has issued an appeal to citizens to exercise caution while travelling in the area.
