Pune News | 75,404 cases referred to Lok Adalat for compromise; It will be held in Pune on September 9

Pune : NpNews24 Online  – Pune News | The Pune District Legal Services Authority (PDLSA) has organised a National Lok Adalat on September 9. Till now, 75,404 cases have been referred to the Lok Adalat for compromise and the cases may increase. (Pune News)

In the Lok Adalat, 38,798 cases are before admission and 36,606 are pending cases, said President of PDLSA Sonal Patil. National Legal Services Authority, Maharashtra Legal Services Authority have issued orders for organising a Lok Adalat under the guidance of Principal District Judge and President of PDLSA Shyam Chandak.

Cases where compromise can be reached i.e. criminal, civil, bouncing of cheques, recovery of bank loan, labour dispute, electricity and water dues, family cases, Motor Accident Tribunal, land acquisition, revenue and transport will be referred to the Lok Adalat for compromise. The panel which will oversee compromise in cases, will consist of judges, retired judges, advocates and social workers. There were 54 people in the panel during the last Lok Adalat.

Since the last few years, Pune is leading the state in resolving the cases. During the last Lok Adalat, 44,614 pending cases had been referred to it. Of them, 16,645 cases were resolved. 10,22,119 before admission cases had been referred to the Lok Adalat and of them, 1,04,532 cases had been resolved, Patil said.

Principal District Judge Shyam Chandak said, “If a compromise takes place at the Lok Adalat, it saves time and money of the plaintiffs. They are also saved from mental agony. Quick justice is delivered during the Lok Adalat. Efforts are made to provide justice to plaintiffs from both sides. This ensures that there are no hard feelings in anybody’s mind. The plaintiff should give preference to having a compromise.”
