Pune: Know on which routes PMPML will be plying new e-buses from airport

Pune: The Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) has decided to deploy new air conditioned e-buses on the airport route from different parts of the city. The Pune airport bus service will be provide on five major routes of the city.

These are the five routes from Pune airport:
– Nagar Road, Chandan Nagar, Magarpatta, Hadapsar
– Kalyani Nagar, Wadia College, Seven Loves Chowk, Swargate
– Pune Station, Pune Municipal Corporation, Deccan, Kothrud
– Pune Station, Savitribai Phule Pune University, Wakad Bridge, Hinjawadi
– Vishrantwadi, Bhosari, Pimpri, Nigdi

PMPML has 142 air conditioned e-buses in its fleet at present. All these buses will be primarily used for transporting passengers from the Pune airport to different parts of the city. PMPML has decided to charge Rs 50, Rs 100 and Rs 150 for these services depending on the distance between the airport and the destination. The PMPML board of directors has given its final approval for this proposal on Thursday (October 1).

PMP Transport Manager Dattatrey Zende said, “The air conditioned e-buses have ample space for passengers to keep their luggage. We have considered this aspect while approving the use of AC e-buses. PMPML has also deputed some of its employees at the airport arrival lounge to inform passengers about this service.”

Pune airport bus service

Flights have resumed to 14 different cities from Pune airport. Hence the number of passengers departing and arriving at the Pune airport has increased significantly after the unlocking phases began. Pune Airport Director Kuldeep Singh took initiative to start this kind of PMPML bus service from the airport for the convenience of the passengers. He also took meetings of PMPML and airport officials for the same. The airport management has also given permission for PMPML buses to be parked at inside the airport premises.

e-Buses for IT companies

Zende said, “Some manufacturing companies and information technology companies had demanded e-buses from the PMPML for transporting their employees. Hence the PMPML has a proposal to keep a certain number of buses for airport to certain routes, while the other e-buses will be provided to the companies on rental basis. Some e-buses will be reserved for plying on some long distance routes.”

Airport traffic increases

On September 28 and 29, about 70 flights took off from the Pune airport. More than 6170 passengers arrived at the Pune airport while 5450 passengers travelled out of Pune city from the Pune airport on these two days. Presently, these passengers have options of cab and autorickshaws. Now, even the PMPML bus services are started from the Pune airport.
