Pune Crime News | Chandan Nagar police arrest accused for absconding after booking cars on zoomcar app; Cars worth ₹60 lakh seized in Rajasthan

Pune : NpNews24 Online  –  Pune Crime News | An accused has been arrested by the Chandan Nagar police for indulging in embezzlement and fraud after booking a car from zoomcar app. The police have seized expensive cars worth ₹60 lakh in Rajasthan near the Pakistan border. (Pune Crime News)

The accused has been identified as Sufiyan J Chauhan (19), a resident of Vadodara. Prachi Rohit Pathare, a resident of Kharadi, has lodged a complaint at the Chandan Nagar police station. The police have registered an FIR under sections 420, 406 and 34 of the IPC. The accused had booked the MG Hector Aurora car of the complainant on the zoomcar app and cheated him of ₹20 lakh.

When the police were carrying out a probe through technical analysis of a case registered at the police station, they came to know that the accused were in Indore in Madhya Pradesh. A team of police personnel went to Indore and apprehended him. When he was grilled, he admitted booking various vehicles on the zoomcar app by using documents of various people. He paid the money from his and friends’ accounts. Later, his aide Mahmand Sama helped him to take vehicles from Mumbai and Pune. He said he had sold the vehicles to unknown people for their illegal activities.

The police seized complainant Prachi Pathare’ MG Hector car (MH12 TK 2847) worth ₹20 lakh from Barmer district in Rajasthan. While tracing this car, the police also seized two other vehicles which he had booked on zoomcar and sold in Rajasthan. The vehicles are a Tata Safari (MH12 UF 3846) worth ₹25 lakh of Nandlal Yadav, a resident of Dhanori and a Kia Seltos (OD 2 BQ 7131) worth ₹15 lakh of Prakash Mohapatra, a resident of Wagholi. The accused has committed similar crimes in Mumbai as well.

The action was taken under the guidance of CP Ritesh Kumar, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ranjan Kumar Sharma, DCP Shashikant Borate, ACP Sanjay Patil by Senior PI Rajendra Landge, PI Manisha Patil, PSI Arvind Kumar, PSI Dilip Palve and policemen Avinash Sankpal, Sachin Randive, Suhas Nigde, Mahesh Nanekar, Shrikant Shende, Namdev Gaddare, Subhash Awhad, Shekhar Shinde, Shrikant Kodre, Suraj Jadhav, Ganesh Handgar and Vikas Kadam.
