Porn Film Racket : Crime branch arrests Director who shot porn movies from Surat

Porn Film Racket: Mumbai police have arrested one more person, who directed nude films for OTT platforms, in connection with a pornographic films racket busted last week, taking the total number of those held in the case so far to nine, including an actress, an official said on Wednesday.

The crime branch arrested the ninth accused Tanvir Hashmi, aged 40 year, from Surat in Gujarat on Tuesday night, an official said. The accused has been remanded police custody till February 15.

Earlier, Umesh Kamat was arrested by the Mumbai police Crime Branch’s Property Cell yesterday for involvement in the Mumbai porn racket, after the police raided a live shoot at Green Park bungalow at Madh Island.

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband and celebrity businessman Raj Kundra is allegedly the main owner or investor of the UK-based production house – Kenrin, which was buying pornographic clips and videos from several “contracted producers and directors” in India for online distribution and sale via various APPs owned or managed by them.

The arrested accused have been booked under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Information Technology Act, and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, the official added.
