Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine: UK approves vaccine for mass roll out

The UK becomes the first nation to approve Pfizer Inc and BioNTech SE’s coronavirus vaccine, ahead of a long line of nations waiting for protection from the novel virus.
The UK had long stated that it would move fast on any promising vaccine candidate. Russia and China have cleared vaccines for general use but they’re unlikely to be adopted in the US and Europe. With an efficacy rate of 95 per cent, Pfizer’s vaccine has emerged as a promising candidate. Britain has already placed an order for 40 million doses of the same.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson recently assigned junior business minister Nadhim Zahawi to supervise the deployment of vaccines in the country. Reports now suggest that NHS workers will receive the vaccine in the first doses of vaccinations in Britain.
