Orrisa woman, infant die by suicide in Kolhapur

Kolhapur: A 24-year-old woman died by suicide with her seven-month-old infant at her residence on Wednesday at Kagal Five Star MIDC in Kagal tehsil. The deceased was identified as Sambari Lakshmidhar Marandi (24), native of Odisha and son Bhagwan (7 months).

According to Kagal police, Laxmidhar Marandi employed in Metro high-tech company in Kagal Five Star MIDC, originally from Orissa state, lived with his wife and newborn child at the company’s employee colony.

Upon returning home from work around 7 am on Wednesday, Laxmidhar house’s door locked. He opened the door with the help of the neighbours and found his wife and son dead. Police sent the two bodies to a rural hospital for autopsy. No suicide note was recovered from the scene, informed the police.

Deputy Superintendent of Police R. R. Patil , Police Inspector Dattatraya Nala and Assistant Police Inspector Deepak Wakchaure visited the spot upon receiving information. Constable Ashok Patil, Ram Davale, Manisha Dhekale, Mahadev Biranje, Mahesh Patil and Mohan Matunge are conducting further enquiry into the case.
