Union’s Opinion

Member of the union saying that the strike has been called off only temporarily, till a favourable solution is worked out. A union leader reportedly said that both companies are ready to give incentives to taxi owners to recover the loss incurred during the strike period.

Earlier, Sunil Borkar, secretary of Maharashtra Rajya Rashtriya Kamgar Sangh (MRRKS), under whose banner the drivers have launched their strike, had said that the cab aggregators have accepted 80 percent of their demands.

Finally a conclusion

On Monday, company officials of Uber and Ola accepted the demand for increased fares — there will be a fixed minimum fare of Rs 60 and the fare per kilometre has been fixed at Rs 12, Rs 15 and Rs 19 depending upon the type of vehicle booked, said Borkar.

Ola and Uber proposed to cover the drivers’ losses by offering incentives during the strike period up till November 15, as per reports.  As per reports, the taxi drivers plan to do away with the strike until November 15 in order to avoid problems for commuters during Diwali week.

The strike was called off on the condition that cab-aggregators, by November 15, will prepare a new fare chart based on fare-per-kilometre, taking into account rising fuel prices. Until then the drivers will follow a Diwali incentive scheme based on every ride. There will be no increase in fares for commuters as of now, said reports.
