Now, pay Rs 1,000 for cutting lane on Expressway

NPnews24 Online Pune: The Highway Police have now decided to impose a fine of Rs 1,000 on people who cut lanes on the Pune-Mumbai Expressway and do not stick to the assigned lanes.

The fine has been imposed to stop the increasing numbers of accidents on the Expressway. According go the Highway Police, the Pune Expressway has three lanes in each side and every lane has a different purpose.

The first lane is for overtaking, while the third one is for light vehicles and the lane to the extreme left is for heavy vehicles. The Expressway is 94 km long.

Many times heavy vehicles use first lane and hence, others are forced to overtake from left which leads to accidents.

Superintendent of State Highway Police, Pune, Milind Mohite said a fine of Rs 1,000 will be levied on offenders violating the lane cutting rule.

“Our officers will be given cameras and offenders will get e-challans. The rule is also applicable to State Transport buses,” added Mohite.
