Maratha Morcha Highlights: Protest turns violent

On the afternoon of Wednesday, during the Maratha Reservation protest, the mob aggressively attacked the police vehicle. Police had to fire in the air because the mob became more violent. The protesters targeted the vehicles on highway and stone pelted. Some furious people targeted the police van. A police van and a container were damaged in this incident.

AURANGABAD:

Police constable Sham Padgaonkar from Osmanabad district, who was on mob control duty in Kaygaon village of Aurangabad, died of a heart attack. He was on duty at the site of the funeral of Kakasaheb Dattatraya Shinde (28), who jumped into the Godavari in an act of ‘Jal Samadhi’ Monday and drowned.

NAVI MUMBAI:

Protesters have now blocked Eastern Expressway in Mulund. Policemen are finding it tough to control the mob, but they have managed to ensure traffic is not majorly disrupted. Meanwhile, sloganeers have blocked the road at Plaza are in Dadar bringing the traffic to a halt. At least 9 BEST buses were damaged in Mumbai during the agitation as of 10:30 am. Buses were vandalised in Kurla, Bhandup, Andheri, Sekiwake, Kandivali, Koparkhairane and Chandivali.

Maratha Kranti Morcha turns violent all over Maharashtra. The bandh has called off all over the State. Affecting many cities in massive ways.

AURANGABAD:

Maratha Morcha turns violent on Wednesday as two more protestors tried to suicide in Aurangabad. Jagannath Sonavane (50) consumed poison, in support of agitation while Jayendra Sonavane Maratha youth (30) jumped into Vel Ganga river.

Seeing them injured, locals called 108 and admitted them to Ghati Hospital of Aurangabad, during the treatment, Jagannath Sonavane was being treated in Medicine Department’s MICU where he was declared dead at 2 A.M. The reason behind his death is given that the poison was not diluted which got spread through his body rapidly.

While Jayendra Sonavane is suffering from sustained fracture injuries on his left leg and is undergoing treatment in lithotripsy ward at Ghati Hospital of Aurangabad.

Jagannath Sonawane has two acres of farm at Deogaon Rangari. He was running his farming business along with his younger son named Bhagvan. Whereas his elder son Bharat is Talathi in Kalamb taluka of Osmanabad district. They said their father had died to support the Maratha reservation.

Both this incident occurred around 10 am on Wednesday

Before Kakasaheb Shinde of Aurangabad ended his life by jumping into Godavari River which resulted into Maharashtra Bandh in almost all over the state and carried the protest aggressive.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Transport buses including Shivneri, Asiad and Shivshahi plying between Pune-Aurangabad have been cancelled till further notice. In Tisgaon of Aurangabad district lathi  charge was performed to control the mob. It is witnessed that protestors had set vehicles on fire in Gangapur, Aurangabad as quota protest turned violent.

Shivsena MLA Harshvardhan Jadhav from Kannad (Aurangabad) has offered resignation through email to Vidha Sabha Speaker over Maratha Reservation issue. After which the Jadhav has left for Mumbai to submit the hardcopy of his resignation. 

MUMBAI:

Mumbai Bandh is still on its affects where another incident took attention. Public transport from areas like Jogeshwari, Thane was also terminated while in Thane, the incident of burning tires and vandalizing buses were also noticed.

Apart from Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Raigad, Palghar, Satara has also witnessed the Bandh. Meetings regarding the discussions about the Morcha has already been held in Rajarshi Shahu Sabhagruha.

Coordinators of the Morcha has also taken necessary steps to avoid any inappropriate incident. On Wednesday, bandh was strictly followed by Mumbai and Thane, where Markets were also shut on Jogeshwari Station road.

Jogeshwari and Thane Railways were blocked by the protestors. Most autorickshaws in part of thane and Navi Mumbai are off road in which Rickshaw drivers outside Ulhasnagar Railway Station are also supporting the Bandh, due to which the passengers passing by are also facing problems. Heavy Police security is being deployed in Ulhasnagar city to avoid any unwanted incident.  BEST bus services from Airoli to Vashi has been completely stopped by the protestors. KDMT buses were also damaged at Kalyan railway station. Vehicles were also stopped by the protestors in Nala sopara area

 After the Maharashtra Bandh (Off) declared during the Maratha community protest for the demand of 16% of reservation in education and jobWednesday witnessed the Mumbai Bandh. Yesterday many places carried the protest aggressively. These influences can be seen in cities like Aurangabad, Osmanabad, Parbhani and many more.

SATARA:

Maratha Kranti Morcha triggered on Wednesday afternoon. The protesters targeted the vehicles on highway and stone pelted. Some furious people targeted the police van. A police van and a container were damaged in this incident.

The mob had become more violent due to which the police had to fire in the air and tear-gas was used to disperse the crowd. The crowd was widespread on both sides of the highway. Police chased and arrested some people. There was a violent turn in the movement which resulted into the decision to deploy more police force on highway.

PUNE:

Maratha Kranti Morcha has now become violent. Many cars and vehicles were demolished and put on fire in many districts of Maharashtra. There is a social unrest in the state.

After seeing the sensitivity of the situation, all vehicles and buses going from Swargate to Mumbai have been cancelled in Pune, Solapur route has also been closed. Movement of protesters is being monitored by the police.

Activists of  Maratha community called for Maharashtra Bandh after the death of Kakasaheb Shinde. Protestors targeted the police van as well as demolished the fire brigade’s vehicles in few parts of Maharashtra.

NASHIK:

The effect of Maharashtra Bandh has reached Nashik too. On Wednesday, protesters called the shops shut in Nashik, but school and colleges were working normally even after the demand of “Maharashtra Bandh”. Some of the places in Nashik witnessed the tyre burn whereas policemen were attacked on few places, protesters also targeted ATMs. Protesters stone pelted few shops in Nashik.

According to the social media reports, all national highways connecting the city are running smoothly.
