PUNE

Literature has taught and illustrated many such lessons which can’t be described in words by any individual, but still LGBTQ(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Hijara, Intersex) community is not involved among us even after many attempts to get equal rights which is given to others.

Despite fighting for LGBTQ rights by the community there are no progress in this case.

In November, the first LGBTQ literature fest will be held in Pune by Samapathik Trust. The trust is been working on the issues of advocacy and health of LGBTHI communities.  Through this fest, the community will be changing the views of society towards them and all the discriminations which they are facing for a long time. They will also brief the society about their acceptance and the issues related to class, exams and grades. Literature should include all aspects of society but it hardly happens in the case of LGBTQ community.

The issues were raised in order to support the Dalit Sahitya Sammelan and Equal rights for women in the society after which the perspective towards them has changed. The fest will also elaborate about basic fundamental rights which they should get, including the right to choose their life partner .

The prejudices and beliefs about the community  which is been carried away since ages should be eliminated  from the society as the next generation may face the same problems.

Few people have expressed their views through blogs, poems and some writers have also taken an extraordinary efforts by writing books on this issue, although there are few people who has taken such steps.

Bindhumadhav Khire, President of Samapathik Trust said, “The first fest of LGBTQ is held on 25th November and the people who want to know more about this community are also welcomed, through which they will get in detailed information about the rights which is been kept away from them.”

Transgender poet Disha Shaik, Theatre actor Jameer Kamble will also be present for the fest.
