Maratha Morcha Coordinators learnt from past mistakes

Having learnt from past mistakes Maratha Morcha is taking baby steps towards nonviolence. The agitation which took place on 9th August, created violence in various places. The Maratha Morcha Coordination Committee announces that, there will be no street agitation for reservation.

A press conference was held in Pune on August 10, in which the announcement was made. It had been said that, this decision was taken for self-determination. Maratha Kranti Mukh Morcha had announced that chain hunger strike will be started by them, instead of disturbing the people and creating problems for the common people by stopping the railways like ‘Rail Roko Andolan’.

No further agitation will be organized by Maratha on streets for reservation and other pending demands. henceforth, a new movement has been announced by the community to move forward the demand for reservation.

Accordingly, it has been decided to organize limitless chain hunger strike in front of the Pune divisional office from August 20 for reservation and all other 15 major demands they have made. This announcement was made by Shantaram Kunjeer, the coordinator of the committee in a press meet held in Pune. Maharshtra state is going to witness the fight for the approval of such demands in various cities from August 20 onwards.

Criminal cases have been filed against the agitators. These crimes should be taken back by the police such has been demanded by the agitators.

Many Maratha youth have committed suicides due to demand for reservation since last month. One person from their family should be given compensation for the loss and also government service.

Also, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis should give in written, the date when reservations for Maratha will be granted by the governemnt.

The Morcha has never supported violence. So Maratha will not support those who are violent and police should take action against the guilty. Along with reservation, these are the some major demands of Maratha community.

In the next ten to twelve days, a meeting of the coordinators of the Maratha Kranti Morcha will be organized again in Aurangabad and the further actions steps related to the agitations will be decided. Morcha organizers Rajendra Kondhare, Shantaram Kunjeer, Vikas Pasalkar, Balasaheb Amrale, Viraj Taware, Kishor More, Minatai Jadhav and others took part in a press meet in Pune where the above was announced.

Some major demands of Maratha Kranti Morcha:

  •  Death sentence for the accused in the Kopardi rape case.
  •  Reservation for the community in government jobs and education.
  •  Make proper corrections in prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Caste and Tribes Act, to avoid its misuse.
  •   For stopping farmer’s suicide fulfill demands like- loan waiver, implementation of Swaminathan Commission report.
