4 men booked for talking nonsense, obscene with police control room women staffs

The Pune city police control room has lodged an FIR against four mobile phone number holders for allegedly talking obscene with female staffs. Some of them were calling unnecessarily and just talking about anything, police said.

Based on complaint from a 37-year-old police woman, the Bundgarden police station has registered a case against the four accused persons for offences under sections 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman) and 186 (obstructing public servant in discharge of public functions) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

According to police, the incidents have been taking place since July. The accused persons used to call repeatedly and just waste time of the staffs. Some of the accused persons even used obscene language with female staffs.

“The police control room number 100 is toll-free number so that people can call police in any emergency situation. But these accused persons misused the facility for wasting time of staff by calling repeatedly without any purpose. They will be arrested soon. All calls have been recorded”, a senior police officer said.

This is not the first time that people have been accused of talking obscene with female staffs of control room. There were several persons who have been arrested in the past.
