Jalgaon: Former Jamner MLA passes away at 94 in Shahapur

Jalgaon: Former MLA of Jamner taluka Abaji Nana Patil (94) passed away at the age of 94 due to old age on Tuesday (February 9) night in his hometown, Shahapur, Tal. Jamner. Patil, who was an educationist, known as Annasaheb.

 He represented the Jamner constituency for 10 consecutive years from 1962 to 1967 and from 1967 to 1971. He was a member of the District Local Board. He worked with freedom fighter (late) Rajmal Lakhichand Lalvani in the freedom movement. Abaji was elected as MLA for the first time in 1962 in Jamner.

Patil was the president of Jamner taluka education institute established by Lalvani for 40 consecutive years. Jamner’s power supply began in his first term as MLA. He was the founding president of the first rum project on a cooperative basis. He served as a member of the Senate at the University of Pune.
