Indurikar Maharaj | Indurikar Maharaj case: Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee to submit caveat in SC
PUNE : Indurikar Maharaj | The Maharashtra Superstition Eradication Committee is going to submit a caveat in the Supreme Court to continue the case against kirtankar (preacher) Indurikar Maharaj who has made non scientific and irresponsible comments on the gender of the child. The Aurangabad bench of Bombay HC has cancelled an order of the district court to scrap the case and issued orders that the case in the JMFC Court in Sangamner should continue.
The HC has given Indurikar Maharaj four weeks as per his request to allow him to appeal against the decision. Hence, there is a possibility that he may approach the SC to appeal against the order of Judge Kishor Sant of Aurangabad bench of Bombay HC. Before he does that, the MSEC is going to submit a caveat as a precaution, said MSEC President Avinash Patil in a press conference on Tuesday. Baba Argade, Ad Ranjana Gavande Pagar and Vishal Vimal were present.
Patil said that Indurikar Maharaj frequently makes anti-women comments and his comments about the gender of the child is derogatory for women and the HC order is a warning for those who support female infanticide and is pro-women, Patil said. He demanded that Indurikar Maharaj should be prosecuted as per PCPNDT Act and he should be sentenced to two years of rigorous imprisonment.
