I am stepping down as the NCP president, says Sharad Pawar

Mumbai : NpNews24 Online  – NCP Chief Sharad Pawar |  Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) supremo and former Union minister Sharad Pawar on Tuesday announced that he would quit as the party president. He was speaking at a book release function. (NCP Chief Sharad Pawar)

 

“One needs to pause at some point of time in one’s life. Craving is not good,” he said.

 

 

An updated version of his biographical book in Marathi ‘Lok Mazhe Saangaati’ was released on Tuesday. He has decided not to contest any election now. However, he would complete his term as a Rajya Sabha member, which will end after three years.

 

A committee will be formed to appoint the new president of the party, said Pawar. Political circles are abuzz with talks on who would be the new NCP president.
