Mumbai : Sitting on hot seat in front of Bollywood king Amitabh Bachchan on the show ‘Kaun Banega Crorepati’, everyone wants him to answer as many questions as possible and win the maximum amount, but did you know that after winning Rs 1 crore, the winner of the show does not get the full amount, i.e. the winner who wins one crore has to pay a large share as tax.
An amount of Rs 34.2 lakh has to be paid as tax
According to Section 194-B of the Income Tax Act, if a contestant wins an amount of Rs 1 crore, he has to pay 30 percent tax on that amount, i.e. Rs 30 lakh tax. In addition, a 10 percent surcharge has to be paid on tax of Rs 30 lakh. Which is Rs 3 lakh. In addition, a cess of four per cent is levied on Rs 30 lakh, which is Rs 1.2 lakh.
