Gautam Gambhir says good bye to cricket with a century

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Gautam Gambhir who retired recently from all formats of cricket has played his last Ranji match and in which the extraordinary batsman took us in the past and played like a 20-year-old with shots all around the park.

He played his last match on his home ground that is Firoz Shaha Kotla Stadium in Delhi. He completed his century in 163 balls. He smashed 9 boundaries in that last innings.

Not often that we see that a huge crowd has come up for a Ranji match but this one was a bit different as India’s one of the most talented left-hand batsmen was going to retire from all formats of the game. the fans know that they will never again see GG taking guard again.

Gambhir received a guard of honour from the opposition Andhra players, which shows what a legend of the game he is. After Andhra posted a 1st innings total of 390, Delhi got off to a flyer opener Hiten Dalal played a brilliant knock of 58. However, the fairytale was being written at the other end. Gautam Gambhir slowly packed his punches and drives and scored a brilliant ton in the final match of his career.

The 37-year-old left-handed batsman has enjoyed a prolific cricketing career and was praised not only for his batting skills but also for his captaincy skills as he led Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders to two title-winning seasons. Gambhir finished his IPL career for his home franchise Delhi.
