Transgender rescues a minor from the trafficker

Allahabad: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE: A group of transgender in Allahabad helped a minor girl from Bihar by rescuing her from a train in which she was travelling with a Jharkhand man who had allegedly bought her from her parents.

Later, the girl was safely sent to her cousins in Kaimur where later an FIR was lodged.

After registering the zero FIR, police official then sent the minors recorded statement to Nawada, minors home district to register the case against her parents and the other two culprits under the Child Marriage Act and relevant sections of POCSO.

The 15-year-old belonged from Nawada district where her parents had sold her off to a 50-year-old man from Giridih in Jharkhand for marriage against payment of Rs 1.5 lakh. The girl was a class 9 student and wanted to study further, but her parents insisted on her marriage.

The girl explained to police that besides her parents, her two uncles intoxicated her before selling. When she regained consciousness, she put up a strong opposition and denied to go with the groom. But her parents and uncles lied, saying the man had no intention to marry her. Instead, he would keep her as his daughter and provide all opportunity for further studies in achieving a bright career. Eventually, she gave in and went with him to Giridih.

Later, the old man tried to rape her, when she revolted and fled back home but when she reached her home, her parents and uncle assaulted and forced her to go back ‘husband’s home’.

Earlier this week, the man assured her to take her on a honeymoon for which they boarded a train from Pune. During his conversation on a phone call, she overheard that the man has sold her to another man in Pune for 6 lakhs who would put her into flesh trade. Instantly, she planned to escape and when the train reached Allahabad railway station, she met some transgenders and narrated them about her sufferings.

The transgenders rescued her and took her to Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay (Mughalsarai) station. They also helped her to reach the house of her married cousin sister at Bare village in Kaimur district and informed her parents.

When her mother reached the police station, she again threatened her to send back to her husband but the girl clearly disagreed. Later the mother tried to file a case against the girl’s brother-in-law accusing him on kidnapping and illegally confining their daughter in their house.

After which the girl was sent to narrate her ordeal to the woman police station for recording her statement and further action.
