Father’s name no more required for PAN applicants
NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- Income Tax Department on Tuesday has taken an important decision keeping in mind the PAN card applicants who have only. The name of the applicant’s father was a must requirement for a PAN card, which is not now.
Income tax department on Tuesday informed that those whose mothers are single parents do not have to mention their father’s name for the Permanent Account Number(PAN).
This new rule will be implemented from December 5, 2018. Central Board of Direct Taxation( CBDT) has announced this information this to be included in the rules of Income tax department and be implemented.
CBDT has informed that they will be given options on application forms for PAN, who is raised by a single mother parent. Such applicants will be allowed to give their mother’s name and apply for the same.
A draft was presented to the Income Tax Department to change the 114 law which says that if somebody’s mother is a single parent then he/she can apply with just mother’s name whereas, father’s name is not compulsory.
Tax Department got many letters from various people requesting not to keep father’s name a compulsory for PAN applicants due to problems faced by the individual who was raised by a single mother parent.
The minister of Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi also had earlier presented this proposal to Tax Department and she said, that this change in the applicant form will be a great help to the applicants who have their mother as a single parent.
Now-a-days, many schools and universities and many other forms have removed the compulsion of filling up the father’s name in the form, yet many schools demand for the name of the child’s father before admission which is yet to stopped.
