NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- A Nasik based farmer sent 1064 rupees to Prime Minister of the country via money order. The farmer named Sanjay Sathe, claimed that he got a rate of 150 rupees only per quintal (100 kg) for onions, which provoked him to send the entire earning to PM Modi through the money order.

Sanjay Sathe is a resident of Naital, Niphad Taluka of Nasik district. The distressed farmer, upset by the valuation had sent his entire earnings to PM Modi via money order.

According to Sathe, his onions got valued at just Rs 150 per quintal at the sub- agriculture produce market committee (AMPC).  He got Rs 1,118 in return of his 7.5 quintals of onion production.

The rates of onions has stroke down since last month and farmers are getting Rs 1 per kg only as a rate for the onions. During last week, upset farmers threw their onions directly on road to show their anger.

According to the information, Nasik district known for production of red onions and Lasalgaon’s onion market is Asia’s largest wholesale AMPC for onions. Maharashtra produces onions at large scale along with other states like Gujrat, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh.

Earlier, a farmer of Niphad committed suicide for not getting the deserving valuation for onions. Now, this onion producer named Sanjay Sathe sent his collected money via order to PM Modi. Along with the money, he also hanged a board on his onion trolley with a message which read, ‘how can ruling party can be so silent, when farmers are in trouble…’. He further expressed that there is no other political intension behind it, this is just to show the farmers’ pain.

Sathe sent the whole of his earning and returned home empty handed. This incident has been the latest topic of discussion now.

 The farmers are already in trouble due to the drought condition in state and in addition to this they are getting low rates to their agricultural produces. Neither are they able to generate the expenditures spent on producing.
