Diver man’s body swollen like ‘Popeye’ sailor man’s!

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE- A 57-year-old sea diver’s body from across the seas has swollen and has gained a structure similar to the famous and legendary cartoon character, ‘Popeye’.

The man named Alejandro Ramos man’s body who is also a diver, his arms and chest had swollen like balloons due to a fishing accident while he was under the sea.

The accident took place in the Southern Peru off the coast and according to sources, the diver was under the deep sea when all of a sudden a cargo ship cut across his vital oxygen line which was needed to survive inside the sea and was his only source of compressed air.

As soon as, the source of air stopped, the pressure of Nitrogen gas caused extensive and irreplaceable damage to his body. It added a total of 30 kilos to his frame.

Ramos managed to survive and somehow craw to the surface but had to live with the damage caused by nitrogen which could not be undone.

That is when his life changed completely. He felt awkward and feared that he would be a laughing stock, hence he has stopped stepping out if his home. Then medical experts diagnosed his special condition.

Ramos said, “I became very depressed, I was close to killing myself. One day I bought rat poison and my son said “Dad would you like to die like a rat?”, After all, I’ve been through?”

He helplessly expressed how uncomfortable the bulky body makes him feel and due to lack of financial support he could not get immediate treatment which triggered this condition.

He added, “There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe one day I’ll go diving again and see the islands”.

As recently, a doctor, specialist in Hyperbaric and underwater medicine told him that he can undergo some sort of serious treatment to recover from this condition as there are no nitrogen bubbles in his fatty tissues.

What actually happened?

When the diver’s body experienced pressure underwater, nitrogen started getting compressed and got accumulated in the fatty tissues of the body. As a result of which when the diver swims back to surface from under the water, the nitrogen expands back into its gaseous form causing swellings inside the body.
