Convoy of 500 cars, thousands of supporters welcome goon Gajanan Marne after his release from jail

Pune: A convoy of over 500 cars and thousands of supporters welcomed notorious criminal Gajanan Marne after he was released from Taloja jail on February 15.

Marne was in prison since 2014 after he was charged in Pappu Gawde and Amol Badhe murder case in 2014 under Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act. He was initially lodged in Pune’s Yerawada hail. He was then shifted to Kolhapur and later in Taloja jail.

Marne was released from the jail at 5.45 pm on Monday. There was a large crowd outside the jail waiting to welcome him and left for Pune on the expressway.

All the cars in the convoy proceeded through the highway without paying the toll on the toll plaza. The procession continued till Urse Tolnaka. The supporters’ vehicles then proceeded in different directions. Marne reached home with two or three vehicles at night on Paud Road in Kothrud.

Another notorious goon Sharad Mohol was released from jail last month including few others. Therefore, there is a rising tension and fear among citizens about the whereabouts of these criminals.
