State Government to launch ‘Jivet Sharad: Shatam’ scheme for senior citizens

Mumbai: Senior citizens will receive free health check-ups and treatment under ‘Jivet Sharad: Shatam’ health scheme. The scheme will be implemented by the Department of Social Justice in the state.

The objective of the scheme is to provide healthcare services to senior citizens to help them live a healthy life.

After Social Justice Minister Dhananjay Munde presented the concept of the scheme, the proposal of the scheme is being prepared by the department. Preparations are underway to announce the plan in the budget session of the Maharashtra Assembly.

All types of health check-ups need to be done first to understand how to take care of health after a certain age. However, due to the economic situation, apathy towards the seniors in the family or the tendency of the senior citizens to neglect the overall health, the health check-up is not done on time and then the health deteriorates after a sudden diagnosis of a major illness. The aim of the scheme is to prevent the recurrence of health complaints if all the health check-ups are done on time.

There is no free health check-up scheme for senior citizens in the state at present. Due to the pandemic, the health of senior citizen is at risk. The scheme will provide relief to all senior citizens by providing free health check-ups and free treatment.

“The ‘Jivet Sharad: Shatam’ health scheme will provide benefits to the senior citizens who are not included in any scheme. The scheme will not only provide health check-up but will also extend further treatment to them,” said Dhananjay Munde.
