Cognizant’s senior employees booked for abetting techie’s suicide

In a shocking incident, a 26-year-old software engineer of leading IT company Cognizant Technology Solutions allegedly committed suicide after being harassed by his seniors.

The deceased has been identified as Chetan Vasantrao Jayle from Mumbai, who lived in Balaji housing society near Balewadi phata.

According to police, the techie was being harassed for the last six months at the company’s office in Hinjawadi IT Park. He ended his life by hanging himself from a ceiling hook in his house. The incident took place around 8.30 pm on April 10. The police have found a suicide note in which he stated that he was ending his life following the harassment of his two seniors.

Based on complaint from his brother Kundan Jayle (29), Pune city police has booked the two seniors for allegedly abetting the suicide. The FIR was registered at Chatushrungi police station against Ravi Achal and Hemant Khadke, on Thursday. They have been charged for offences under sections 306 (abetment of suicide) and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code.
