#Anti-spit campaign: Health department protest against spitting

Pimpri- Chinchwad: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE– Central Government had started ‘Swachha Bharat mission’ long ago and now Maharashtra government has also started campaigns to create a Swachh Maharashtra.

Under this mission, since last two days in  Pimpri-Chinchwad city, the municipal corporation took action against people who were found spitting on public areas,  defecating on open and against those who were littering roads.

The officers of Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation(PCMC) took action and collected forty thousand penalties from the offenders. In this, they fined 36 people who were found spitting on roads and collected a total of 5400 rupees.

From last two days, eight wards of PCMC officers of Health Department were involved in taking such actions and fined people who spat in public places and littered the streets of the city.

Also, officers took action and fined 34 people to 7940 rupees who littered the roads as well as fined 6 people of rupees 1200 for urinating in open. PCMC Health Department officers have been taking these actions since last two days between 7am-2pm in 8 wards.

Citizens were fined 150 rupees, 180 rupees, 200 rupees, and 500 rupees respectively. And, Officers of Health department said, “If a person is caught spitting or urinating on roads, and he/she denies to pay the penalty then the case shall be transferred to the police”. The common public is also trying to support this action in various ways. Awareness has been started increasing among people as some have started realizing what harm can spit and littering do to the society. So, now you need to think before spitting in the public place!
