On October 3 during the morning, Union Minister for Women and Child Development, Maneka Gandhi told media on the case of Tanushree’s allegation on Nana Patekar opposing any kind of harassment against women and assured of action against them.

Maneka Gandhi said, “Harassment of any kind will not be tolerated. We were the first government to start ‘She-box’ campaign for women on social media and all the women who wrote to us saying that they have been harassed or believe they were harassed, we took action immediately on them.”

In regard to this, she also said, “We should now also start a campaign called MeTooIndia in which women and girls can write complaints and their problems to us and we shall investigate on such cases immediately. For the first time, the National Commission for Women (NCW) is going into every case and we should go in detail. And, literally, we have solved several 1000 cases.”

Also, she said, “What we were trying and had announced 6 months ago and which we would like to do is to get the government and parliament to increase the age, whereby you can complain. A child cannot complain against any harassment which should be stopped. The age of any woman who can complain should be increased up to 30. So that girls and women of all age can file complaints against any kind of sexual abuse, molestation or harassment such has been demanded to Union Ministry.”

Although she refused to comment on Tanushree Dutta’s allegation she said harassment on any woman shall not be tolerated.
