After Allahabad, demand to change names of such cities

LUCKNOW: NP NEWS 24 ONLINE– Allahabad’s name is to be changed from Allahabad to Prayagraj. Now, there is a demand to change the names of various other cities too.

Mainly, some groups are responsible for this like the Hindu Sanghatan. They are demanding names of such cities and districts should be changed. The names were kept during the Mughal era.

This group demands that name of Azamgarh district should be changed to Aaryamagadh. Faizabad to be called Saket, Aligarh to be called Harigadh and Muzaffarpur to be called Laxminagar such is being demanded.

Apart from this, the capital Lucknow’s name should be changed such is being demanded. According to sources, UP minister Lalaji Tandon had given suggestion for this name to be changed.

In year 2018, he wrote a book called ‘Ankaha Lucknow’ in which he had mentioned about this. He had mentioned that the name of Lucknow was previously Laxmivanti. After this, it was named Laxmanpur and then lastly Lakhnavati.

After this, it became Lucknow. The state government said to the health ministry’s spokesperson Siddharth Nath Singh said the government will think on this and then and only then will come to any conclusion.

Such cities’ names have been changed in past which include Baroda to Vadodara, Trivandram to Tiruvanananthapuram, Bombay to Mumbai, Madras to Chennai, Cochin to Kochli, Calcutta to Kolkata and many other cities.

Now, many other cities names are to be changed which have been not changed since the Mughal Era or the independence. The Indians are independent in every aspect, then why the names of the cities given by the britishers should be continued.

In the last twenty years, the names of cities and districts have changed drastically. These changes have always been provoked by the local social groups in the cities, which is first proposed by the local government and then approved by central government.
