81 doctors from Maharashtra leave to Kerala medical relief work

81 government doctors, 55 from J J government medical college in Mumbai and 26 from Sassoon hospital from Pune left by in two Air India aircraft to Trivandrum today early morning. The doctors along with paramedical staff accompanied by medical education minister Girish Mahajan with the team.

Kerala was hit by bad flood situation where more than 368 people lost their lives, 56 thousand were rescued by Kerala government rescue agencies. More than 6.5 lakh were displaced. According to government, the flood situation is restoring to normal but there is the big challenge of communicable disease to be spread. So there is need of medical professionals and medicines.

Taking the onus of the situation Maharashtra state government have sent these teams. Dr. Ajay Chandanwale , Dean of Sassoon general hospital said that there is urgent need of medical attention in Kerala so 26 doctors from Sassoon hospital left for medical relief. He also speculated that he may have sent by the state government to Kerala for handling medical relief situation.
