Theme Calendar ‘ Swarasadhak 2019’ to be published on the first day of Sawai Gandharva Bhimsen Mahotsava

NP NEWS 24 ONLINE – Indian classical music has a very long and rich tradition. However, despite such a long tradition right from the Vedic era, our music has always remained dynamic and ever-changing with time. Numerous geniuses of Indian classical music have contributed not only to preserve but also to enrich this tradition through their creativity. To continue this mission of taking this legacy to further heights of excellence, the present generation of artistes are eager and also quite capable. Surfing on the waves of advanced technology, these artistes are enriching our musical tradition by their untiring efforts. The visual concert of some such gifted and talented musicians…. is the theme of this year’s musical calendar, ‘Swarasadhak 2019’.

This year, I have completed 35 years of attending the Sawai Gandharva Music Festival with my camera. During this period I have been fortunate to capture thousands of bhavamudras of nearly 500 artistes. It was always my priority to capture the engrossment of these performing artistes. It was a very ‘joyful job’ for me. Along with listening to great music I derived immense satisfaction from capturing those timeless moments. To share this happiness with music-lovers is the prime intention of my theme calendars.

My camera was fortunate to witness and capture the evolving career of all the artistes of ‘Swarasadhak 2019’. We all have witnessed wisdom, creativity, and dedication of these gifted artistes. As their art was blossoming, the ease in their performance was evident from their photographs. If the photos remind you even of a few moments of those concerts, it will mean the success of these bhavamudras.

The thoughts expressed by every artiste, ‘Me and My Music’, is the highlight and a special feature of this theme calendar.

Artistes are blessed with natural talents .These ‘Swarasadhaks’ are not an exception to that. In the world of music, all artistes who perform for such a long period are honorable and respectable; therefore, no conventional prefix (Pandit or Ustad) has been attached to their names.

So, let us celebrate the New Year with these bhavamudras along with the musical notes of these ‘Swarasadhaks’!
