The remains of the temple found during the excavation are said to be of the 16th century.

The remains of ancient temples have been found during the excavation near Kashi Vishwanath temple in Varanasi and the Gyanvapi mosque present in this complex. The archaeological department is investigating the remains.

 

The remains have been found near Putulibai Dharamshala in Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Dwadasa Jyotirlingas and at some distance from Gyanvapi Mosque. These remains belong to the temple and are said to date back to the 16th century. The excavations were being done to construct the dream project  Vishwanath Temple Corridor of PM Modi.

 

It is being claimed remains were found where the distance from Gyanvapi Mosque is 10-15 meters.

 

After the discovery of this relic, there is a demand for an archaeological survey of the entire complex. The relics date back to the 16th century.

 

General Secretary of All India Saint Committee, Swami Jitendranand told that the saint committee has always demanded the court to excavate this place under the supervision of the Archaeological Department of India. However, now on the basis of the relic found near Gyanvapi Mosque and Vishwanath Temple the decision should be made.
