To resolve this issue which is being discussed all over India, Maharashtra government has given a thought to impose excise duty on imported liquor although such has not been implemented yet. By increasing taxes on liquor, government will reduce the prices of fuel.

Such information has been given by an administrator of Maharshtra’s excise department. Since year 2013, no decrease or increase in taxes have been imposed on Indian-Made-Foreign-Liqour (IMFL) by the government.

Adding to it, the administrator said, “The government shall be benefitted by hugely by funds if prices of excise taxes on IMFL are increased. After which, taxes on petrol and diesel can be decreased.”

The Chief Secretary of State’s Excise department, Valya Nayar Singh decided to keep mum on this case due to no information about the analysis of prices on IMFL with him.

In year 2017, excise duty on prices of Maharashtra Beer were increased. And, in year 2015, prices of Desi or local liquor and liquor available in Military Canteens were increased.

The prices of petrol are the highest in Maharashtra compared to other states. Maharashtra’s Parbhani area is witnessing a hike of Rs. 91.6 litres per litre since few days, which is the highest.

Whereas, diesel 80 RS. per litre has reached. Maharashtra is benefitted the most by the VAT on petrol and diesel.

Will the commoners be able to take a sigh of relief after the prices of fuel decrease or not such answer still awaits!
