Shocking ! Maharashtra joint secretary shoots wife, commits suicide

NPnews24 Online Pandharpur : A shocking incident has come to light in Pandharpur, where a joint secretary of the state government allegedly committed suicide after shooting his wife. He was posted at the Mantralaya.

The incident took place around 2 am after quarrel over domestic issue. The accused secretary Vijay Pawar fired two rounds at his wife Sonali and then hanged himself. Sonali was rushed a hospital in nearby Solapur, where she is undergoing treatment at a hospital.

According to police, Pawar hails from Marwade village in Mangalvedha taluka, and became the first collector from the taluka. He had also worked as collector of Nandurbar. He was recently posted at the Mantralaya in the skills development department.

To celebrate Holi, he had come to his native place. However, there was argument with his wife and he shot at her twice from a revolver and then hanged himself. His relatives rushed them to hospital.

After getting information, a team led by police inspector Anil Gade, API Vaibhav Markad, policemen Haridas Salgar, and other staffs rushed to the spot.
