Pune: Recidivist Criminal Arrested for Brazen Daylight Theft in Khadak; Looted Rs 11.5 Lakh from Parked Two-Wheeler

Pune: In a significant breakthrough, the Khadak Police have apprehended a notorious repeat offender who brazenly looted Rs 11 lakh and 50 thousand from the trunk of a parked two-wheeler. The audacious theft occurred at the Timber Market, where the perpetrator meticulously observed the victim’s movements before executing the crime. Following a meticulous investigation involving scrutiny of footage from approximately 500 CCTV cameras, the culprit was identified and apprehended at Bopkhel Phata.

Identified as Ramkeval Rajukumar Saroj, also known as Rakesh Pradeep Singh Rajput, aged 46 and hailing from Chakan, the arrested individual has a notorious criminal history, with a staggering 30 cases registered against him across police stations in Pune city, Pimpri-Chinchwad, and the Mumbai Police Commissionerate.

The incident unfolded on February 2, 2024, when Mahesh Shivaji Nale, a 35-year-old resident of Hadapsar, visited the Timber Market for work. Seizing the opportunity, the accused closely monitored Nale’s movements. Subsequently, as Nale parked his bike and proceeded with his work, the perpetrator swiftly pilfered the substantial sum from the trunk of the vehicle, prompting Nale to file a complaint at the Khadak police station.

Responding promptly to the gravity of the theft, Senior Police Inspector Ravindra Gaikwad rallied his team to conduct a thorough investigation. Leveraging modern surveillance technology, the police meticulously analysed footage from an extensive network of CCTV cameras deployed in the vicinity. Suspicion fell upon an individual observed behaving suspiciously in the footage, subsequently identified as the perpetrator. With swift action, Khadak police traced the suspect to Bopkhel Phata and successfully apprehended him.

During interrogation, the arrested individual confessed to depositing the stolen funds into both his and his wife’s bank accounts.
