Pune: RTO Servers Resume Operations After Eight-Day Disruption

Pune: Residents of the region breathed a collective sigh of relief as the servers essential for vehicle-related operations at the Regional Transport Office (RTO) finally resumed functioning after an eight-day hiatus. The disruption had led to significant delays in various administrative tasks, leaving many tasks pending.

The technical glitch, which had plagued the RTO’s Sarathi and ‘Vahan’ systems last week, brought operations to a grinding halt. While the ‘Sarathi’ system ceased to function entirely, the ‘Vahan’ system experienced intermittent disruptions. Both systems, crucial for driver-related services, are managed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC).

Following intensive efforts by NIC technicians, the server issue was successfully addressed, allowing the RTO administration to swiftly resume pending tasks. The restoration of services brought a sense of relief to drivers, who had been anxiously awaiting the resolution of their pending paperwork.

However, the resumption of operations also posed challenges for RTO staff, who now face the daunting task of clearing the backlog accumulated over the past eight days while managing their regular workload. The sudden influx of drivers eager to complete their documentation further added to the workload, leading to long queues and crowded windows at the RTO office on Wednesday.
