Pune Politics | Pune: Ajit Pawar’s entry may create problems for Chandrakant Patil

PUNE: Pune Politics | The split in the NCP has created a flutter in the state. Along with Ajit Pawar, nine MLAs of NCP took the oath of office. There was speculation in political circles that the Shinde group was unhappy after the NCP joined the BJP and Shiv Sena in the government. Now, Ajit Pawar is likely to stake a claim for the post of guardian minister of Pune which is being occupied by Chandrakant Patil at present.

Ajit Pawar has thrice been the guardian minister of Pune district. Hence, there is speculation whether he will become the guardian minister of Pune. Pune district has proved important for BJP as the party’s thinktank.

There was criticism of Ajit Pawar’s equations with the BJP in BJP’s idealogues. Hence, it remains to be seen whether senior BJP leader Chandrakant Patil will retain this post or will Ajit Pawar, who has a hold over the administration, will become the new guardian minister.

At present, Chandrakant Patil is the Guardian Minister of Pune. However, if Ajit Pawar stakes claim for the post, BJP’s problems can increase. It remains to be seen what stance will be adopted by the BJP.
