(Pune Police News) Pune police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) against  him and other accused in fraud and land grabbing conspiracy cases.

Ravindra Barhate was absconding for many months. Recently, the Crime Branch of Pune Police has arrested Advocate Sunil More, the aide of absconding RTI activist for helping Ravindra Barhate.

Last week police also arrested Ravindra Barhate’s wife Sangeet and son Mayur Barhate in the same case. As police suspected that wife and son were in connection with the RTI activist.

This is the major action take by the crime branch in the last two weeks.

According to police, Barhate is absconding in 12 cases of extortion, fraud, and land grabbing in the city. Barhate has been evading the police for the last year. He had made allegations against the police by Facebook Live video twice. Police have also arrested Pitambar for helping to make the video viral.

In three of the cases, action has been taken against Barhate. His team includes Sanjay Bhokare of Sangli, dismissed policeman Shailesh Jagtap and journalist Devendra Jain.
