The protests were organised in different parts of the city in the last 15 days. The police officers have been asked to collect information like name of organisation, their members, occupation as well as their political affiliations.

All the police stations are sending the details to special branch, which is the intelligence wing of Pune police.

It seems the state government is in favor of granting reservation as stated by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Sunday as he has sought time till November.

The Maratha community which forms about 33 percent of the state’s population, has been protesting for the last two decades demanding reservation in education institutes and jobs.

This year at least seven persons have killed themselves demanding the Maratha reservation in different parts of the state. Meanwhile, properties worth crores have been damaged in the protests which have often turned violent this year.

Earlier, the Maratha community had organised silent rallies across the state. No political leader, no slogans and well maintained environment were notable features of the marches . Millions of people came together to protest, from all parts of Maharashtra, but no harm was done to any public or private property.
