Pune police Crime Branch: Upset with rejection of marriage proposal, man tries to extort money from Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, Avinash Bagwe, Rupesh Vasant More and builder Anuj Goyal, arrested
Pune : NpNews24 Online – Pune Crime News | The Anti-Extortion Cell -2 of the Pune police Crime Branch has arrested a man who had tried to extort money from political leaders and reputed builders. He had tried to extort money from Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge, former corporator Vasant More’s son Rupesh Vasant More, builder Anuj Goyal and former corporator Avinash Bagwe. Photographs of politicians, famous people, screenshots of their information, different marriage certificates and screenshots of hacked WhatsApp numbers, said Crime Branch’s Addl CP Ramnath Pokale and DCP Amol Zende at a press conference. The arrested accused has been identified as Shahnawaz Ghazikhan (31), a resident of Guruwar Peth but at present staying at Kondhwa Budruk. Pune Marriage Bureau Group is operating since 2020 and Imran Samir Shaikh (37, a resident of Ghorpadigaon), was the admin. In 2020, the biodata of a girl was posted by her mother and her father owns an Innova (MH12 QR 7860). Group admin Imran Shaikh had suggested the alliance of Shahnawaz Ghazikhan but the girl’s parents rejected it. Later, Imran Shaikh chatted with the girl’s mother by creating a fictitious account. Later, he tried to malign the girl by saying that the girl was a divorcee. An FIR had been registered against Imran Shaikh on March 27, 2022 at the Chandan Nagar police station.
The accused Imran Shaikh had prepared a fake photograph of both of them and prepared a fake marriage certificate and had made it viral on different groups. An FIR had been registered against Imran Shaikh and Shaikh Jaleel Shaikh Jaleel at the Chandan Nagar police station. Menahwile, on September 23, 2022, former corporator Baba alias Deepak Dhondiba Misal, was sent various messages from different WhatsApp numbers and an extortion was demanded. After it was found that Imran Shaikh was the accused in the case registered at the Bibvewadi police station, he had been arrested. The accused Imran Shaikh again used the photo of the girl and created a Facebook account and morphed the photos and made them viral. A separate FIR has been registered in this case and the accused Imran Shaikh had been arrested.
After some months, accused Shahnawaz Ghazikhan became active. Shahnawaz and Imran Shaikh were in the Pune Marriage Bureau group. The accused, Shahnawaz Ghazikhan had tried to extort money from Rupesh Vasant More, Anuj Goyal, Avinash Bagwe and Bhosari MLA Mahesh Landge and had asked them to keep the money in an Innova (MH12 QR 7860) parked opposite Eon IT park in Kharadi area. In this case, FIRs are registered at the Bharati Vidyapeeth police station, Bund Garden police station, Samarth police station and Bhosari police station.
The accused Shahnawaz did all this to harass the girl’s family. Considering the type of crimes, five different teams of the Crime Branch had been formed. The police searched for the accused on a war footing and arrested the accused Shahnawaz Ghazikhan. Photographs of politicians, famous people, screenshots of their information, different marriage certificates and screenshots of hacked WhatsApp numbers have been found with him. The accused was preparing to extort money from four politicians and famous personalities. The police have seized the evidence and the accused has admitted committing the crimes.
Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr, Joint CP Sandeep Karnik, Addl CP Ramnath Pokale of Crime Branch and DCP Amol Zende guided a team of officials including Sr PI Pratap Mankar, API Changdev Sajgane, PSI Shrikant Chavan, PSI Mohandas Jadhav, PSI Ajay Jadhav, policemen Vijay Gurav, Vinod Salunke, Pradip Shitole, Shailesh Surve, Rahul Uttarkar, Sangram Shingare, Ishwar Andhle, Anil Mengde, Saidoba Bhojrao, Sachin Ahivale, Amol Pilane, Chetan Apte, Pavan Bhosale, Chetan Shirolkar, Kishor Barge, Pradip Gade, Maroti Nalwad, Sagar Ghorpade, Abhinav Ladkat, Aniket Babar, Ayyaz Daddikar and Darekar.
