The Ivy Estate Society is home to 15 to 20,000 residents. Since there was a dispute between the builder and the land owner, the condition of the road leading to the society was in a bad shape. The road leading to Nagar Road was full of potholes. A solution could not be found. Hence, the residents of the society carried out asphalting of the road on Sunday midnight. When the land owner came to know about this in the morning, he brought a JCB and tried to dig up the road but a mob stopped him. An attempt was also made to pelt stones at the JCB. After the arrival of the police, the situation became normal.
A resident of the society said, “Since the road is very dangerous and the land owner was not allowing the construction of a road, asphalting was done at midnight. This has been done for the benefit of 15 to 20,000 residents.”
Bhalchandra Satav, land owner, said, “The road issue is in the court but the society’s residents forcefully asphalted the road at midnight. They have insulted the court. When I went in the morning to protest against this, a mob assaulted me and my wife. The mob was from outside and this was organised by a man having criminal antecedents. He is an activist of a political party and I have lodged a complaint with the police.”
The residents of the society, who carried out a surgical strike at midnight, travel in the wrong direction to go to Ivy Estate Society. Citizens are asking that if a road can be in a bad condition, then, isn’t wrong side driving dangerous? They said that such things are not expected from educated people.
