Pune News : Roads in Mundhwa and Mohammadwadi to be developed on PPP basis in lieu of credit note; PMC floats tenders worth ₹170 crore

PUNE: NpNews2 4 Online – Pune News | The PMC has been carrying out the work of constructing roads on Public-Private Partnership basis in lieu of credit note for two years. Recently, tenders of works worth ₹170 crore regarding a DP road at Mundhwa and three DP roads in Mohammadwadi have been floated. (Pune News)

The city is expanding and the existing roads are proving inadequate. Although the geographical expansion of the city is more, the income is comparatively less. Against this background, the PMC has taken up some development projects in lieu of credit note. These include river restoration project, bridge on Mundhwa-Kharadi road, flyover at Gangadham Chowk and grade separator and road works in Mundhwa, Baner, Balewadi and Mohammadwadi. The works are worth more than ₹5,000 crore and of the 11 packages of the river restoration
project, tenders for only two packages have been floated.
The builder will get a credit note instead of cash for building bridges and roads. Through the credit note, the builder can pay development fee, property tax, advertisement hoarding fee. This means that the money being received by the PMC will be collected through the builder.

The tenders floated by the PMC include a 12 km road in Mundhwa railway area from survey numbers 64 to 68 and 71 (₹53.90 crore), 24 km road (₹39.03 crore) in Mohamamdwadi going through survey numbers 1, 2, 3, 4, 96, 59, 58, 57, two roads of 30 and 18 metre roads going through Mohammadwadi to Ramtekdi industrial estate survey numbers 40 to 76 and 18 and 24 metre roads (₹14.60 crore) going through survey numbers 12, 13, 30, 32 and 57 in same area.
The tender for the Gangadham Chowk flyover and subway worth ₹100 crore have been approved two years ago. Many development works are underway in this area.

Some influential persons have got the HCMTR road alignment changed. However, there are differences between the people’s representatives whether the flyover should be built from Market Yard to Gokul Nagar or on the Bibvewadi-Kondhwa road and hence, the project is stuck.
