Pune News : Two youths drown in Lonavla dam
PUNE / LONAVLA: NpNews24 Online – Pune News | Two of the three youths who had gone for sightseeing near the dam in Lonavla drowned. The youths hailed from Olkaiwadi near Lonavla. One of the deceased was studying in a college. The incident took place on Sunday. The deceased have been identified as Vivek Chhetri (21) and Karan Kunvar (20). Paresh Bhul, who was accompanying them, has lodged a complaint with the Lonavla city police. According to the information, Vivek, Karan and Paresh had gone for a walk behind the dam. (Pune News)
After they stepped into the water, Vivek and Karan could not gauge the depth of the water and drowned. Since Paresh knew swimming, he tried to save Vivek but he could not hold on to his hand and his efforts were unsuccessful. After Paresh informed the police, a rescue team of Shivdurg Mitra tried to locate bodies of Vivek and Karan with the help of police. They found the bodies after four hours.
Shivdurg Mitra’s members Ajay Shelar, Mahesh Mhasne, Sagar Kumbhar, Manohar Dhakol, Rajendra Kadu, Pranay Ambure, Anil Andre, Chandrakant Bomble, Amol Parchand, Aniket Ambekar, Amol Sutar, Daksh Katkar, Ayush Vartak, Durvesh Sathe, Mahadev Bhavar, Ratan Sinh, Ashok Umbre, Sunil Gaikwad, Brijesh Thakur, Mayur Dalvi, Sahil Bhikole, Nihal Dalvi, Akash Ghardale, Kailas Dabhne and Deepanshu Tiwari took part in the rescue operation. Havaldar Ghotkar of Lonavla police station is carrying out further probe.
