Sangli district receives an annual average rainfall of 486.1 mm but this year, only 272.7 mm rain has been recorded. Satara and Solapur districts have received 37 and 30 per cent less rainfall respectively.

Konkan division records an average rainfall of 2,870.8 mm rain and this year, it has received 11 per cent excess i.e. 3,177.6 mm rain. But Ratnagiti has recorded two per cent less rainfall. Madhya Maharashtra has received 12 per cent less rainfall and Marathwada has received 11 pc less rainfall. Vidarbha has received two per cent less rainfall.

Rain created havoc in Ratnagiri district on Sunday due to the low pressure area in the Arabian Sea. Ratnagiri, Khed, Dapoli, Rajapur and Sangameshwar talukas were battered by heavy rain. This led to waterlogging in many areas. In Bavnadi and Nivli areas, mud flowed on the road which disrupted traffic on Mumbai-Goa highway for one and a half hour.
