The state government has framed rules for erection of hoardings. Accordingly, the Sky Sign Department gives permission to erect hoardings through the concerned ward office. However, many times, even if everything is proper as per records, actually, rules are violated. Such an incident has happened in the central part of the city.
The Sky Sign Department has given permission for erection of three hoardings behind Sambhaji police chowki at Tilak Chowk. According to rules, it is necessary to keep a distance of three metres between the hoardings. However, ignoring these rules, three hoardings have been put up side by side. Officials and workers of Sky Sign Department and Kasba Vishrambaug have turned a blind eye towards this.
Dr Kunal Khemnar, Addl Municipal Commissioner, said, “When the hoardings are erected near the river bed, a stability report is necessary whether the place is safe or not. A distance of three metres should be kept between the hoardings. A report has been sought but it has not been received. But the concerned businessman has been told not to display the advertisement.”
It was necessary for officials and workers of the Sky Sign Department to check whether the rules are being followed while the hoarding was being erected. However, in this incident, since everyone has behaved in a careless manner, action will be taken against them, Khemnar said.
