Pune mayor orders to remove encroachments from river banks

NPnews24 online, Pune: Mayor Mukta Tilak has directed Municipal Commissioner Saurabh Rao to immediately remove commercial and other types of encroachments on the Mula-Mutha river banks in Pune. She has given instructions to ensure that river water flow is smooth so that, there are no floods in the city.

In various parts of the city due to heavy rains and floods, many houses have been damaged and people had to face a lot of problems.  The district administration has done panchnama of the flood victims.

These people will be helped by the State government.

A meeting was held by Mayor Mukta Tilak on Friday to decide whether the flood victims could get any help from the civic body. House leader Srinath Bhimale, Standing Committee Chairman Sunil Kamble and Pune District Commissioner Saurabh Rao were present for the meeting.

Meanwhile, Opposition leader Dilip Barate has demanded to provide Rs 25,000 compensation rach to help to build houses for flood victims in the city.
