Pune: Gaur spotted at Bavdhan area; Forest officials begin rescue operation

Pune: Within a fortnight, another Gaur (Indian bison) has strayed into the urban locality of Bavdhan – at the outskirts of Pune city on Tuesday (December 22). However, forest officials this time have taken utmost care while rescuing the animal. The forest department team arrived at the spot and has swiftly engaged in the rescue operation with the help of nets and tranquilisers.
A video has also gone viral on the social platforms in which the Gaur can be seen walking along a compound wall. It is suspected that the animal ventured into the society at the Bavdhan from the Mulshi forest area located nearby. The forest officials have urged locals not to visit the site.
On December 9, a Gaur was spotted at the Mahatma Society in Kothrud area. Large crowd had gathered to see the Gaur then. The forest officials also failed to rescue the animal immediately. The Gaur died within a few minutes after it was rescued by the forest officials from the Paud road area.
