Pune: Eight-Month Fugitive Hunt Culminates in Arrest by Bharti University Police; Police Apprehend Absconding Accused From Kondhwa

Pune: The Bharti University Police succeeded in apprehending two long-standing fugitives, who had evaded authorities for eight months following the initiation of Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) proceedings. The arrest, executed at Talav Chowk in Kondhwa, marks the culmination of an extensive pursuit by law enforcement agencies.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Javed Badrealam Shaikh (21 years old, resident of Ambegaon Budruk) and Suraj Nandu Bandal (19 years old, currently residing in Abangaon Budruk, Pune). The charges against them include offences under the Criminal Law Amendment Act, Arms Act, and MCOCA, along with sections 307, 385, 324, 452, 143, 144, 147, 149, 323, 504, and 506(2) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), as lodged at the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station.

The accused, adept at evading detection, frequently altered their identities and residential addresses across various districts to evade law enforcement agencies’ pursuit. Despite their elusive tactics, officials from the Bharti Vidyapeeth Police Station, along with the investigation team, persisted in tracking down the absconding suspects. Police Officer Chetan Gore’s pivotal role in obtaining crucial information regarding the suspects’ current mobile number and social media presence proved instrumental in tracing their location.

Utilising sophisticated technical analysis, law enforcement authorities pinpointed the accused’s whereabouts to Talav Chowk in Kondhwa. Subsequently, a meticulous trap was laid at the identified location, resulting in the successful detention of the fugitives. The arrested individuals have since been handed over to Investigating Officer Assistant Commissioner of Police Swargate Division, Nandini Vagyani, for further legal proceedings.

This performance was done under the guidance of Commissioner of Police Amitesh Kumar, Joint Commissioner of Police Pravin Pawar, Additional Commissioner of Police Western Regional Division Pravin Kumar Patil, Deputy Commissioner of Police Smartana Patil, and Assistant Commissioner of Police Nandini Vagyani, by the team of Senior Police Inspector D.S. Patil, Police Inspector Crime Mangal Modve, Assistant Police Inspector Sameer Kadam, and Police Sub-Inspector Dhiraj Gupta, Police Constables Chetan Gore, and other team members.
